What to Expect

espitex is looking for an experienced Denim Designer for it’s head office. As a denim designer, you’ll be responsible for creating innovative denims designs that align with the brand’s aesthetic and market trends. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, merchandising, and production, to bring your designs to life.

What You’ll Do

  • Design Conceptualization
    • Develop denim design concepts based on market research, consumer preferences, and brand identity
    • Create mood brands, sketches, and digital rendering to communicate your vision
  • Fabric Selection and Wash Techniques
    • Choose appropriate denim fabrics, weights, and finishes
    • Experiment with wash techniques (e.g., acid wash, distresses, vintage) to achieve desired effects
  • Pattern Development
    • Translate design concepts into detailed patterns for jeans, jackets, skirts, and other denim products
    • Collaborate with pattern makers to ensure accurate fit and construction
  • Color and Trim Selection
    • Select color patterns that resonate with the brand’s image
    • Choose trims (buttons, rivets, labels) that enhance the overall design
  • Sample Development
    • Work closely with sample makers to create prototypes
    • Evaluate fit, comfort, and aesthetics during the sampling process
  • Trend Research
    • Stay updated on denim trends, attending trade shows and analyzing competitor products
    • Adapt designs to reflect current fashion movements
  • Collaboration
    • Coordinate with production teams to ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing
    • Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers regarding fabric sourcing and production timelines
  • Quality Control
    • Inspect denim samples and finished products for quality and consistency
    • Address any design-related issues during production

What You’ll Bring

  • 7+ years experience in Denim Design
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Strong understanding of denim construction, wash processes, and fabric properties
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for denim fashion
  • Portfolio showcasing denim design work
